The Foire de la Laine (Wool Fair) brings to the Gulf of Saint Tropez a blend of Provençal traditions and markets selling crafts and local produce.

The Foire de la Laine, a tradition in Grimaud

The Fair

The Foire de la Laine is a traditional celebration that has taken place on Ascension Thursday for several decades now.
The day’s programme is bucolic: market stalls bursting with colour, fragrances of our beloved Provence, homemade produce and smiles full of sincerity.
After tasting various local specialities and purchasing your favourite discoveries, you can enjoy various activities including, throughout the day, demonstrations of ancient occupations, such as herding and spinning.

Creative workshops based on clay, wool and other materials will delight both children and adults.
Children will also be fascinated by the mini-farm installed by the Ranch de la Mène, where they can enjoy feeding the animals.

As for tradition, after mass at Saint Michel Church, the folklore group, Escandihado, puts on a Provençal performance of picturesque dances accompanied by Provençal drummers and the distinctive sound of fifes and ‘galoubet’ flutes.
Then its the traditional drinks reception.

Yarn bombing

A life-size exhibition of yarn bombing will take place on the main square of Grimaud village. The avowed aim is to brighten up the village streets by decorating monuments, trees and fountains with knitted items such as amusing banners, original garments and festive costumes…
The yarn is spun, and knitted, by people with passionately artistic hands and an intergenerational connection is created between local associations and the municipal teams, the retirement home and the schools.
