We suggest a tour into the past, when water was not yet common, and when farm work occupied most of the inhabitants of the region; it is thanks to the tools and objects of the everyday life that we may know more about this epoch.

The Folk Museum of Grimaud was founded in 1982 by two inhabitants, André Decuers and Guy Giraud; with the years going by the local people made donations of objects to the museum.
Today the patient work of development and preservation which is steadily prolonged by the town allows to discover this rich past and the ancient Provençal life style.
Temporary exhibition hall :
Two temporary exhibitions are organized in the hall, an ancient cork factory which became forge afterwards; the chimney is still preserved.

FIRST FLOOR :
Ancient oil mill known since the 17th Century (you can still see the “chapels” made of granite which contained the oil presses) regroups agricultural activities, tools of the forest work, handcraft, cork industry, silkworm breeding and tools of the vineyard

SECOND FLOOR :
Dedicated to household objects, religious items, garments and headdresses.
The farmer’s apartment :
The reconstruction of an apartment of farmers living in the village at the end of the 19th C. In the barn at the ground floor you will find agricultural tools, the place for the mule as well as some reserves (wine, oil, pulses…).
At the first floor, the main room in which family life takes place and all activities are effectuated.
The bedroom, a more intimate place, may nevertheless also stock some nutritional reserves.

from Mondayto Saturday
(July-August from Tuesday to Saturday):
2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m..
From October until April from Monday to Saturday :
2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Open also on
Sundays during school holidays (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
Free entrance.
